Hah, they don't stand a chance! Most our good Chinese friends couldn't hold a stick to we westerners when drinking. I only drank a few times to that excess, and during those times our Chinese friends tossed their cookies hours before.

Expect lots of that stuff though. Oh, reage bar delivers pizza, but it used to be a little complicated. They will probably be slipping things under your door.

As for the cockroaches, I tried to keep anything off the floor I could. I would also dry up my bathroom as they seemed to like how wet it got from the shower right afterwards. Squash them with reckless abandon. Don't hesitate to move furniture and go crazy. Once they are dead, leave them at that spot. Take a very soapy tissue and wipe were they were (they can still deposit eggs when dead) and wipe them up into the trash. I then took the trash down the stairs, not on the floor recepticle. This all but eliminated my problem for 2 week intervals. During the time inbetween they would actually migrate from other rooms to mine. So if you shove a towel under your door every night, you stand a better chance of keeping them out.

Uck, I hate cockroaches. I can live with most bugs, including spiders, but not cockroaches. The night I woke up because one landed on my face is when I declared war.
