It’s been said that a nation can’t truly be labeled as having a burgeoning middle class without the faked UFO videos that are the hallmark of tech savvy citizens with entirely too much time on their hands.

China is now officially such a nation.

The above video is claimed to have been shot in Nanjing and was found via this post on Fark.com. The consensus there is that the video is simply a blimp shot out of focus with the “warp effect” and flashing lights digitally added in at the end. Hence, it is most likely a hoax, but a fairly impressive one regardless.

Fake or otherwise, during my time in China I’ll still be keeping one eye on the skies.
